Travel as a Form of Learning
Jewish Journeys is an alternative educational initiative dedicated to the idea of travel as a form of learning. We offer serious academic travel programs for college and high school students. We believe that experiencing the physical presence of a significant place helps us to engage in a uniquely imaginative way with events, stories, and persons. Streets, monuments, and places of memory are at the core of our curriculum.
The City as Classroom
Travel opens up a way of embodied learning that is not available in the traditional classroom setting, where learning is a disembodied experience. While most instruction will take place outside the traditional classroom setting, students also participate in a rigorous academic program with lectures, discussions, individual research assignments and writing tasks, all framed and informed by encounters with significant places.
